Ann Parker

Health Kinesiology Practitioner and Tutor

Ann was born and grew up in far north Queensland and graduated from the Queensland Teacher’s College in 1960 and taught for 12 years in mainstream education in both Queensland and Canada. During her time in Canada she also ran evening educational programmes for adult learners. After touring Europe for six months Ann opened a gift shop in Ripon, North Yorkshire, England. In the late 1980s Ann was introduced to the Bach Flowers Remedies and soon started to acquire and work with further essences from around the world. As well as using the essences in her HK practice she also prepares personalised essence mixes for clients in the UK, New York, Australia and New Zealand.

In early 1990, she trained in Health Kinesiology with Jane Thurnell-Read and became so excited with HK and its possibilities for changing people’s lives for the better that she changed her focus from the gift shop to developing a busy HK practice. Ann’s passion and commitment to HK ensured that she attended every available HK class taught by either with Dr Jimmy Scott, the founder of HK or Jane Thurnell-Read.
Ann was authorised by Dr Scott to teach HK in 1993 and has since taught numerous classes of HK 1 to 7 in the UK as well as visiting Germany to teach HK in 1997 and Australia in 2007. Ann has now re-located to Wanaka in the South Island where she sees clients in the purpose built clinic and office for Vital health Matters and runs classes for HK students.

Ann joined the Kinesiology Federation, the UK’s professional umbrella for all kinesiologists, in 1991 and became a professional member in 1992. As a Policy Board member of the Kinesiology Federation Ann had the privilege over several years of working with very committed kinesiologists to further Kinesiology in the UK. In September 2007 Ann was made a Fellow of the Kinesiology Federation in recognition of her contribution to the growth of kinesiology in the UK. Ann was a member of the working party set up to establish the National Kinesiology Standards in the UK – granted by the UK government in April 2002.

From 2001, Ann as Head of HK in the UK and lead HK tutor co-ordinated the Health Kinesiology Studies programme for the Open College Net Work based at Leeds Metropolitan University in Yorkshire.
During 2007 Ann submitted for approval the HK classes 1 to 7 and gained recognition of them as a professional kinesiology by the Australian Kinesiology Association.
In September 2010 Health Kinesiology has been recognised as a professional K here in NZ.
