I have been interested in people’s health for as long as I can remember. I am trained as a registered nurse and I began my career in New York City. I worked with AIDS patients at the height of the HIV epidemic. On returning home, I continued my nursing in occupational health and rehabilitation. I like seeing people recover and being a part of that journey. It wasn’t until family health issues surfaced that I hung up my nursing uniform in pursuit of complementary solutions.
What I found was Neuro-Linguistic Kinesiology and Chinese medicine, such fantastic modalities that I only wished I knew of them a lot earlier. I am pleased to have integrated this into a practice framework that draws on both western science and eastern philosophy. Traditional Chinese medicine includes acupuncture alongside the use of herbs, guasha, cupping and moxibustion. I use various branches of kinesiology; Touch for Health, Neuro-Linguistic Kinesiology, Bio-Kinesiology, Nambudripad’s allergy elimination techniques (NAET) and SIPS. Advice regarding lifestyle change and diet is also an important element. Consultations are 1.5 hours initially, then 1 hourly thereafter with clinic locations in Pukekohe and Drury.
My formal training includes post graduate diplomas in health sciences in Acupuncture (AUT) and Case Management (University of Auckland) and various certifications in kinesiology. I am an ACC approved acupuncturist and belong to several professional organisations. I work closely in clinic with a midwife/ acupuncturist and can assist with pregnancy and fertility.
My goal is to help you to meet your goal, whatever that may be. I use a variety of methods to stimulate your body’s own healing mechanisms. I prefer to think of it as ‘balancing the body’ rather than giving ‘treatment’. I do not diagnose medical conditions and I recommend consulting your GP or specialist to guide you . These techniques are both complementary with regular western medicine and I am happy to work alongside your current providers.
